The only reason I picked it up the first time is because I heard over and over that it was like a super cute 90s romcom kinda thing. I'm not sure I would have otherwise - the art definitely is way different (but in a very good way) from what we usually see in bl.

I've already read it /)_(\ but I sorta remember what I thought when I first bought it. It thought it must be a classic series from the 90s that the publisher decided to dabble into making available.

Feels weird quoting myself but here we are at discussion time. The 90s, early 00s vibe is highly present in the manga. The art style is straight from the period. Not just with character art but even down to the silly picture background tones that were so popular at the time (check all your shojo and BL they were EVERYWHERE). In the story too the tech is of the times. You see one characters using disposible cameras and others using digital. I remember that transitional period and the two work together to almost take you back in time.

It works well with the high school crush theme. Nothing bad or traumatic happens like in many, many high school setting stories and it makes you almost feel like remembering simpler times. The cheerful tone compliments that.

Spoiler
One of my favourite parts is actually the end.
The romance isn't confirmed or disconfirmed. Its left open to interpretation but also in a satisfying way where Nakamura was happy. It is a crush  story after all. Even if nothing comes from it, its special and never be forgotten. That's the feeling I picked up.

We did get to see the normal horror themes slip in.

Spoiler
When Nakamura
fell in the sewer when Hirose was about to be abused, we got to see a darker theme and a gory scene done in a comedic effect.
Even though the tone of the series is completely different it couldn't help but make an appearance.

Anyone else heartbroken that the sequel will probably never be finished?
