Since there are a lot of BL announcements coming in, I wanted to try to consolidate everything here (it will be a mess getting everything together since there's a lot coming out.)
Also, if people wanted to discuss wanted to talk about the licenses!
The one I just saw now: https://twitter.com/TheOASG/status/1279171604703035392
"TOKYOPOP has announced at their Anime Expo Lite panel they've licensed Dento Hayane's Bakeneko Katatte Soro"
I'm curious about the vampire title Yen Press picked up - it runs in a shoujo magazine, so it's not bl-bl, but it was clearly chosen with this audience in mind going by the language used in their press release about all their licenses. Yen hasn't licensed bl in years, not since a handful of Lily Hoshino titles ages ago, so I wonder why now.
And apparently the only thing that could get me to buy a Tokyopop title in 2020 is the prospect of having something by Dento Hayane in print on my bookshelf.

Would this be Dento Hayane's 1st print licensed work? Not really one of my fave authors but I appreciate the attention they're getting. (How I wish they licensed From Here It's a Secret though but it's really new.)
On a side note TokyoPop's panel got quite a...reception. Personally I cringe seeing the word "normalize" in their PRs, but digging deeper on Twitter I've seen way more harsh opinions.

I wasn’t able to tune into the panel, did something happen or?
Based off what I saw on their panel description a couple of days ago, they are really pushing, capitalizing on LGBTQ branding?

I didn't watch any of the panels today, just followed announcements on twitter, so I missed the full context for a couple of tweets I read and trying to find subtweets with more details is hard - what was the issue?
(And yeah, that's the first print license for Dento Hayane as far as I can tell. They don't have a huge body of work and about half of it is licensed by Futekiya atm)

Not much about the panel but more on TokyoPop's reputation - how they allegedly screwed LGBT authors Japanese and Western alike.
Some also commented how their license choices are almost all yuri and then claiming it's "representation", but I have no idea about the yuri and I only checked out the BL ones. Another tweeted about the TP editor claiming some BLs are queer, but not all.
Futekiya working with Libre might be one of the bigger surprises of all the licensing announcements for me, even though it makes sense bc Libre has so many titles and even if SuBLime is part-owned by the same parent company, they can only put out so much in English.
I'd like to know what new Shodensha titles they got besides the few they already announced, but they may well save that for August.
Stil shaking with the Libre announcement! Knowing so many Be x Boy titles are in scanlation wild, working with Futekiya might help stem that somehow.
I have like...a really long wishlist. Dakaichi and Living with Him (One of the top BLs in Chil Chil?) will be great openers. Aside from many from famous authors like Natsuki Kizu, Yoneda Kou, Ichikawa Kei...
Also with the Sublime-Libre-Futekiya link would we be closer for a possible print run of Futekiya titles? Or even a cross-sell where previous Sublime licenses can join the site?

I still pray they got Hideyoshico's Stay Gold even if it's still ongoing. Lol.

Momo to Manji is still ongoing and they definitely got it, have hope! I'm hoping for maybe, just maybe, one of Tomoko Yamashita's older titles, though I feel like it might be a bit of a long shot simply because of the older thing. I'm sure I'll be happy no matter what else they've gotten, though.
But oh, Libre... that's not just Be x Boy, that's so many magazines and so many potential titles in their catalog. 🤩 I was hoping (and still am) that Futekiya might get Akaneshinsha on board because Opera has a lot of less mainstream titles going on that I'd love to read, but it never once occurred to me that Libre would be an option because of their relationship with SuBLime. Unless there's some titles on Renta, I don't think they've licensed with anyone else since DMP more or less burnt down every last bridge between them in 2016.

Not really connected directly with AX but about futekiya and what goes into how they pic their licenses

My friend have been telling me I was a little wide eyed about the Normalized part? I do really like the titles they picked!!!!!

Opera would be very nice. They have many titles that would fit in with Futekiya's output so far, like Basso/Natsume Ono's work.
Basso is exactly why I would love if they could work with Akaneshinsha because Natsume Ono is one of my absolute favorites but apparently after the flurry of licenses circa 2010, publishers gave up on trying to pick up any more of hers unless it gets an anime adaptation. Trying to get her Basso work from mainstream publishers feels nigh on impossible.
