vol 7 spoiler talk

But yes, I can't wait for Mikado and the professor to finally meet. I wonder whether the Professor's face/name erase technique will work on Mikado since he's able to see the truth of things.

Spoiler

I bet it doesn't work on him at all and never has, since his mother was all "oh, I wish I remembered even that much of him" when he was talking about the feeling he got about what kind of person his dad was. He was little enough at the time that time + the trauma of being left alone with scary things could've erased a lot of things naturally, especially if his father wasn't overly involved as a parent. He wasn't a big talker and there's no way the subject of his dad wasn't the most obviously prickly subject ever, his mother may never have known he still remembered bits and pieces before they faded away.

I'm dead curious how the professor might take encountering the smell of Mikado's mother in their son, given the feelings he keeps stirring up in himself about the both of them. Mikado is the only one who really gets those sorts of comments, that he smells good, etc, so is that his mother's influence? Hmm.

(And damn, why must not knowing Mikado's mother's name be an actual plot point now?? I really want to know what it is, since we've learned even the name of Hanzawa's wife and she's barely a recurring character.)

God, I love this manga so much, there's so many things in the story that intrigue me and make me want to know more, more, more.

@jessinbooks Yes to everything! The next volumes are going to be so good, I can tell. Can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

@mrbatbird fortunately, it's not a long wait - vol 8 is due out in March. The wait between the last couple of vols was killer (over a year for one of them), so less than six months is welcome!
