(1 customer review)

Designer Tohru finds himself drawn to Yurihara, the new part-timer at a gardening shop near his workplace. Tohru decides to shoot his shot because Yurihara reminds him of his ideal partner, a younger guy he once used to date, but all his attempts at flirting are met with Yurihara’s bluntness and frank rejection. It looks like there’s no hope left for Tohru…until he bumps into Yurihara dead drunk on the sidewalk!

The official summary for this is a bit misleading because Tohru didn’t really “date” the younger guy back in the day. I won’t say more than that to avoid spoilers.

Pros: I like the way the characters are drawn, and the underlying message of being true to yourself and what you want is a nice sentiment. I also liked the scenes of Tohru complaining to his friends/exes at the gay bar.

Cons: Execution of both the theme and the plot felt haphazard. Some elements were rushed and would’ve benefited from having more time to develop. Yurihara’s internal conflicts weren’t explored in much detail, which was a problem since so much of the plot hinges on them.

Overall, it’s a sweet story with a interesting premise, but the execution didn’t live up to the promise of premise.

Content warning that Tohru initiates oral sex with Yurihara while he’s sleeping after getting rejected by Yurihara. Came off as extra creepy since the rest of the story is so fluffy.

Also includes an unrelated, 1-chapter side story about two college students that are in a science lab club together and having sex as an “experiment.”
