If you read Pornographer and thought, yeah there’s clearly some past history with his editor, this is where you come to find out more. It was cool seeing how Rio went from award winning novelist to smut writer along with his inspiring mentor. We know how the two friends end up, but that doesn’t stop the smut scenes being steamy and voyeurs will be especially pleased. Reccomend reading after Pornographer.

Of the Pornographer series, this one is my favorite.
Something about knowing what will happen in the future since this is a prequel and not a sequel (even though it was published after) gives the story a melancholy you don’t see in a lot of BL. I think it is a standout because it shows a happy ending doesn’t always happen in BL.
