Been a LOOOOONG time since I last read this, but I remember it very well and have consistently recommended it to people over the years.
What I like about it is that both characters feel like fully realized people rather than just “Shy Character” and “Intimidating Character.” I also like the touch of realism with Nakaba struggling with homophobia at school, which even today doesn’t come up in a lot of BL even though it’s still very much an issue. Finally, I have a soft spot for stories about characters at low points in their life finding ways to move forward and get better, and this is a good example of that.

This was one of the first BL from the 2010~2020 decade that I read, and is still a favorite that I reread all the time. It’s a bit clichéd, but the characters are cute and likeable and their relationship is adorable, you can’t help but root for them. The setting, in which one of the characters had to deal with homophobia at school, feels less idealized than other BL, but the story keeps a lighthearted tone. A great entry point for new BL readers.
