Sojun Shiina’s as fickle as a cat. He only comes to Arata when he wants to. Arata knows that, yet can’t help but reach out his hand… After three months away, Sojun, a famed guitarist, returns to Arata, editor of a well-regarded music magazine. Despite his talent, Sojun has cut himself off from the Japanese music scene. Unable to settle down, he bounces back and forth between countries, often leaving his longtime lover Arata behind. Arata knows that about Sojun, but can’t help wishing he’d come back for good, to stay by his side, hold him and make love with him… The adult love between these two men flickers between Arata’s admiration for Sojun’s immense talent, his sense of inferiority, and the freedom and possessiveness that comes from affection.

I’m not up to date on this, but what I’ve read is very strong. I really like the dynamic between the two leads — they both love and admire each other a lot but in very different ways. I’ve always enjoyed storylines where a hardworking character encounters a natural genius in the same field as them and have to grapple with feelings of both jealously and admiration because of that. You encounter this kind of dynamic a lot in sports anime shipping, but I really find it in BL/romance, so this was a nice treat.
The way the narrative unfolds is also interesting, swinging between the past and the present to slowly unveil new information and developments. This story is never content to just settle in and do what you expect it to do, and it works well for it.
I look forward to catching up and eventually seeing how it all ends!
